Giving the film a 3.5 star rating, Bollywood Bubble wrote in its review, “Prem Keetanu is a completely new take on college friendships or young love and it also has its sincerity. The film works best when it captures the simple joys of friendship, the awkwardness of falling in love and the emotional complications of growing up.” It also noted, “There are predictable stretches and the screenplay could have been tighter, but the performances, humour and warmth keep Prem Keetanu engaging. Overall, Prem Keetanu is a sweet, sincere and heartwarming coming-of-age comedy-drama that leaves a pleasant impression.”
