Aditi Bhatia Reacts To Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Bakwas Propaganda’ Remark
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently slammed The Kerala Story 2, labeling it a ‘bakwaas propaganda.’ When questioned about whether being a part of The Kerala Story 2 could affect her future opportunities, given that many filmmakers are perceived as left-leaning, Aditi Bhatia said, “Main unse kabhi waise hi nahi mili hoon. Ab woh agar mere kaam ko chhod ke film ke mudde pe focus karein toh woh unki choice hai. Aur maine utna door tak socha hi nahi hai. They should understand that, as an actor, you are just doing your job for the character. Right? And of course, I mean, I have an equal part in the notion of the film. But at the same time, I do think that I have done my part professionally as an actor. And if they just keep their focus on that, then I do think that it should open up more and more doors for me.”
Aditi Bhatia Says She Had No Idea About The Other Two Stories In The Kerala Story 2
She further added, “So Mukesh (Chhabra) sir and I were in touch for multiple projects, and main toh kuch aur project ke liye baat kar rahi thi unse us time pe, and this audition came up to me, and he used to always tell me to wait it out and not rush into something silly. I always wanted to do an acting-oriented role. So this came up, and he thought I fit the part. He thought I looked like a 16-year-old, and I auditioned for it. After that, I read the material, and jab maine sirf mera hi part ka material padha toh I didn’t even know about the other two stories. I just read my part. And I read it from the perspective of Divya and yeh ladki ki kahani as a 16-year-old. And like I said, the other two stories I had no idea about.”
Aditi continued, “Mujhe basic one-liner pata tha. Zyada nahi pata tha. Zyada mujhe tabhi pata chala jab maine bhi film dekhi. Toh tab mera bhi ek notion bana film ko lekar, ek perspective bana. But usse pehle, when I read the part, I was drawn to it for two reasons. One was that as a girl, you feel so much for a part like this. Because yeh aisa sacchi mein hua hai kisi ke saath. And this is based on true events, as the film speaks for itself. And I felt a little moved by the whole storyline of the girl.”
The Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actress concluded, “The second thing was that as an actor, I felt like I was getting everything to perform in this. So there is dance, romance, anger, crying, there is realization, betrayal, everything. So, I mean, it was a no-brainer for me to go into this.”
