Amit Mishra is a singer, songwriter, voice actor and live performer. He became more well known after the song Bulleya sung from the film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. For this rendition of the song, he won a Filmfare Award for new music talent, Screen Award for Best Male Playback and IIFA Award for Best Male Playback. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Amit Mishra opens up about how today’s trends, such as reels, affect the music and creative industry.

Amit Mishra On How Reels Affect Today’s Music Industry

When asked if auto-tune, reels, and TikTok videos are the right way to define love for music, Amit Mishra said, “How would you say it ki… Humein TikTok ke liye gaane nahi banane, balki Bollywood ke liye banane hain—jo apni sangeet ki legacy, apni virasat aur apne vast vision ke liye jaana jaata hai. Jis tarah hum kisi bhi gaane ko ek picturized form mein dekhte hain, waise hi humein bhi apni sangeet ki approach ko waisa hi rakhna chahiye. Agar hum Laxmikant-Pyarelal, R.D. Burman sir ki baat karein—yeh woh composers hain jinhe sunkar main bada hua hoon. Aaj bhi humare paas Vishal-Shekhar, Salim-Sulaiman, Pritam Da, A.R. Rahman sir jaise composers hain jo apni craft ko ek bade vision ke saath aage le ja rahe hain.”

Amit Mishra On Approaching Music In Today’s Times

The Manma Emotion Jaage singer added,“Agar hum apni approach ko thoda long-term rakhein, toh hamari industry mein aise gaane banenge jo sirf ek season ya ek viral trend ke liye nahi, balki sadiyon tak yaad rakhne laayak honge. Main har din naye aur purane dono tarah ke gaane sunta hoon. Jaise ek din main Suresh Wadkar sir ka ‘Aab Koi Toh Bataye’ sun raha tha—mujhe us gaane ki sweetness aur voice culture ko samajhne ka mann hua. Rishi Kapoor sir ne uspe kitna khoobsurat perform kiya tha!”

He continued, “Meri apni ek alag philosophy hai ki gaane ko sirf sunna nahi, balki uska arrangement, programming, aur uske lyrical aur phonetic aspects ko samajhna bhi zaroori hai. Aaj kal gaane sirf 60-90 seconds mein consume kiye ja rahe hain, lekin sangeet sirf beats tak seemit nahi ho sakta. Pancham Da ne pehle hi yeh keh diya tha ki aane wala samay rhythm ka hoga—aur aaj dekh bhi rahe hain ki log beats ko melody se zyada pasand kar rahe hain.”

Concluding, Mishra said, “Lekin jab koi gaana ek khoobsurat melody ke saath aata hai, toh wo logon ke dil aur dimaag dono mein bas jaata hai. Jaise ‘O Sajni’ ya ‘Kaise Kate Din Raat’—yeh sirf gaane nahi, ek era ka hissa hain. Is wajah se humein short-lived trends ke peeche bhaagne ke bajaye sangeet ki asli rooh pe dhyaan dena chahiye, taki industry melodically strong aur creatively rich bani rahe.”
