EXCLUSIVE: Angad Hasija Reveals Tumm Se Tumm Tak’s Yashvardhan ‘Instantly Reminded’ Him Of Alekh; Says, “Never Imagined Life Would Come Full Circle Like This”

For many television viewers, seeing Angad Hasija as Yashvardhan in Tumm Se Tumm Tak has brought back memories of his unforgettable performance as Alekh in Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai. It’s a comparison the actor has been hearing ever since the show began. While audiences are enjoying the familiar innocence and vulnerability of the character, Angad admits he never imagined he would get the chance to revisit those emotions after so many years.

Angad Hasija On Tumm Se Tumm Tak’s Yashvardhan Reminding Him Of Bidaai’s Alekh

Nearly 18 years into his television journey, Angad Hasija says returning to a role that reminds people of Alekh feels both unexpected and deeply rewarding. He shared,“It’s been around 18 years since I started working on television, and I’ve been fortunate to stay busy throughout my journey. Looking back, I never imagined life would come full circle like this. As actors, we usually move on once a character ends. You carry the memories, but you don’t expect to step into that emotional space again.”

He continued, “When this role came to me, it instantly reminded me of Alekh. In many ways, it felt like I was revisiting the character that introduced me to the audience. That doesn’t happen very often, and I genuinely consider it a blessing.”

Angad Hasija says Alekh will always hold a special place in his heart because it changed his life. He revealed, “It was my very first television show and my first experience in front of the camera. Everything I have today started because of that role. Even now, people stop me and say, ‘You’re Alekh.’ That’s a beautiful feeling because it tells me the character has stayed with them all these years.”

Angad Hasija: When You’re An Actor, Everyone Has An Opinion

Angad recalls that producer Prateek Sharma had a very clear vision while developing Yashvardhan. “Prateek told me that he wanted audiences to feel the innocence they once connected with. He wanted the body language, the hairstyle, the simplicity and even the way the character spoke to remind people of that emotional world. Hearing that made me both excited and nervous.”

Of course, not every reaction has been the same, but he says that comes with the profession. “When you’re an actor, everyone has an opinion. Some people shower you with love, while others question your choices. I’ve had messages saying they love seeing this side of me again, and I’ve also had people asking why I keep getting these kinds of characters. Even my cousin joked about it. I just laughed because between Alekh and Yashvardhan I’ve played so many different roles. But if people still remember Alekh after so many years, I see that as a compliment. It means the character left a mark.”

For Angad, emotionally demanding roles are the ones every actor secretly hopes for. “Characters with emotional depth push you as a performer. They aren’t easy to play, but they stay with the audience for years. I had been waiting for a role like this, and I’m thankful that Zee TV, Studio LSD and Prateek trusted me with it.”

One of the biggest challenges, however, wasn’t acting. It was convincing himself that he could still look the part. “I kept asking myself whether I could still bring back that innocence after so many years. I worked really hard before the shoot.” He continued, “I lost weight because I wanted to look younger and reduce the maturity that naturally comes with age. I didn’t want viewers to feel there was a huge gap between Alekh and Yashvardhan.”

The effort has not gone unnoticed. “It’s funny because some of my friends called me after seeing my pictures online and asked why I was posting old photographs from Bidaai. I had to tell them those weren’t old pictures at all. They were recent photographs from the shoot. Hearing that made all the hard work worth it.”

The appreciation he is receiving for Yashvardhan means even more because he joined a show that had already built a loyal audience. “Entering an established show is never easy. Viewers are already emotionally invested in the story and the existing characters. A new entry has to earn its place. That’s why it feels wonderful when people slowly begin accepting and loving your character.”

While many longtime viewers remember Alekh, Angad is equally happy that a younger audience is embracing Yashvardhan without any comparison. “A whole generation has grown up without watching Bidaai. They don’t know Alekh, and that’s absolutely fine. For them, Yashvardhan is a completely new person, and they’re connecting with him in their own way.”

He says the audience’s emotional investment is the biggest reward. “In the current track, Yashvardhan has married Meera, and people are already worried about what lies ahead for him. When viewers start feeling protective towards your character, you know you’ve managed to touch their hearts. As an actor, that’s the greatest compliment you can receive.”
