Ankit Gupta on taking a break
Recalling his journey, Ankit shares how he had self-doubt. He says, “So when I came to Bombay, I was like fully charged and pumped up, I thought, ‘Oh, as soon as I come here, I’ll be a star.’ But when I came here and I actually felt like everybody around me was so good looking and so talented. For a long time, I didn’t get any work. Then I did Balika Vadhu and realized that ‘maybe acting is not my thing.’ So I stopped acting and started doing ads. Then suddenly Sadda Haq happened. After that, everything changed. Then there was a break from 2018 to 2020. And that was the time when I fell things were not going right. In 2018, I finished my show on Star Bharat.”
He further shares how his projects didn’t take off and even a film was shelved. “During those two years I signed four shows, one film, and two web shows, but nothing took off. I remember, I went to Ranchi for my film shoot and was there for a week. But the shoot didn’t start. Finally, one of my production guys came and said, ‘Bro, I need to talk to you.’ That was the moment I thought something’s wrong. So he said that the producer and investors had run away, and so, we had to stop the picture. So at that time, I understood that whatever is coming, I should take it. Maybe from 2021 till now, with that mindset I had been working with. I didn’t take a break. But now, now is the time and I really feel that physically, emotionally, and mentally, I should take a break”, said Ankit.
