Ashneer Grover On His Punchlines In Shark Tank Season 1

When asked if his punchlines, one-liners in the show Shark Tank Season 1, were scripted or self-written, Ashneer Grover responded, “Nahi yaar, see when I was on the show Shark Tank, the shoots were very long and I was not used to it. Matlab aap toh glamour bahar se dekhte ho na toh aapko lagta hai ki ek ghante ka show hai, correct. But us 1 ghante ke show ke peeche 36 ghante ki shoot chal rahi hoti hai.”

He added, “You know, over a long weekend, 12 hours a day. Then you start realising, ki boss, this is about conserving your energy. Toh, I just was conserving my energy saying ki bhai main tumko kahani nahi suna sakta, main ek line bol dunga. And somehow those lines were getting picked up. I never thought you know it will become viral or it will become so big, very frankly. It came as a surprise to me as well, but a pleasant surprise.”

Speaking of him becoming a viral, trending memes on social media, the entrepreneur said, “Ya, I have seen those a lot. Ab kya karein yaar? Matlab, sometimes it’s just the timing of it, which is right, right? Ki ek memes ka culture chal raha tha, ek virality ka culture chal raha tha, and people found something refreshing coming out of a business person on TV. Right. So ya, it just worked. You can’t overanalyse it.”
