Adnan Sami On His Musical Journey With Asha Bhosle

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Adnan Sami was questioned about how he made his way in Bollywood, Adnan Sami said, “Actually, the credit for that goes to Asha (Asha Bhosle). What happened was that I had known her since childhood, and she had always been very supportive. We had even worked together in the early ’90s, around 1992–1993, when I was composing mostly for the Pakistani music industry. Later, in 1999, I wanted to record with her again, this time in London. Toh unhone mujhse pucha, ki London kiu? Mera jawab tha ki wahaan logo ko jaanta hoon.”

He added, “That’s when she said, karna hau toh Bombay (Mumbai) mein aake shoot karo gaana. She said, ‘This is the capital for Hindi music.’ And, she was like tum yahaan pe aao aur shoot karo, jo cheez yahan pe chalti hai woh puri duniya mein chalegi. I took her advice seriously—she’s like a mother to me. I then came to Mumbai, and we started working on various projects together. Eventually, Kabhi Toh Nazar Miao was released, and the rest is history. All I can say is that she played a pivotal role.”

Adnan Sami and Asha Bhosle have created some of the most memorable and soulful collaborations in Indian music. Their first and most iconic work together was the 2001 album Kabhi To Nazar Milao, which became a massive hit. The collaboration marked a turning point in Adnan Sami’s career, introducing him to a wider Indian audience.
