EXCLUSIVE: Jannat Zubair feels heartbroken by reading social media comments ‘yeh karti kya hai bas 15 sec ke videos toh banati hai’

All actors and actresses have been subjected to criticism. If you’re a public figure, you are going to be judged no matter what deeds you do. Similarly, actor Jannat Zubair who is also a popular social media influencer faces heavy criticism online. From making reels to sharing her photos, netizens are constantly disparaging her. On the same note, Jannat spoke her heart on social media trolling on Bollywood Bubble’s Let’s Talk Podcast.

Jannat Zubair on being called a ‘Social Media star’ despite doing TV serials

“You’re still calling that person a star that makes a lot of sense. Not everybody in the acting field is called a star. But somebody who has a lot of followers or who gets a lot of likes on reels or whatever the person is posting you do call that person a star. Aap khudhi star bula rahe ho sabse pehele aur aap khudhi troll kar dete ho ye kehke ki ye toh ye (making reels) karta hai jabki sab woi kar rahe hai. I just don’t understand why, I mean what is the problem?” Jannat told us.

When asked if it holds you back to express your opinions on social media. Jannat said, “No, it does not and you know why because I know for a fact whatever I wear, no matter main kitna acha photo post kardu, kuch bhi acha kardu usme bhi kuch na kuch apna negativity daalna hi hai. And I’m speaking this with experience. I have seen and I have realised ki isme kya hai. Isme maine kya kardia isme toh kuch hai hi nahi galat. Par tabhi mujhe hate mil raha hai toh usme aap ye soch hi nahi sakte ki main ye na karke ye karu toh shayad mujhe isme hate na miley. Kyuki nahi hota hai.”

Jannat speaks about online hate and how it affects her

When asked if the social media hate affects her, she said, “There was a particular time where they did affect her a lot kyu ki mujhe lagta tha ki problem kya hai, main kya kar rahi hu, what am I doing, I’m just minding my own business. Putting up and making videos that I personally like putting and there are a lot of people who like posting such stuff and it’s not just me. Kitni badi community hai jo ye sab kar rahe hai. Jo influencers nahi hai wo toh karte hai na, toh usme dikkat kya hai. Toh main uss cheez bohot affect hone lagi thi. Sabko ye lagne laga aur abhi bhi lagta hai ki maine toh kabhi acting kiya nahi, mujhe issi se fame mila hai. Toh jab ye particular cheez hit karti thi jab mujhe aise comments aate hai ‘yeh karti kya hai joh log usko itna follow karte hai, bus 15 sec ke vidoes hi toh banati hai.'”

“Toh jab ye koi bolta tha toh mujhe hit hota tha ki aapko kya pata hai ki maine kya kiya hai. Aapko ye 15 sec dikh raha hai par mujhe pata hai ki maine, meri family ne yaha tak pochne ke liye kitna kuch kiya hai. Aur wo dikhne se pehele humne kitna kuch kiya wo apko nahi pata. So, it’s very easy to judge,” Adding that she then stopped reading comments.

Jannat was asked when it stopped affecting her and she said somewhere it will never stop. She said that when she sees good comments, she feels nice but if she sees one negative comment, it breaks her heart. Explaining negative comments, she continued, “Wo negativity bhi aisa criticism nahi hota jisme lage ki I can do better. It’s so harsh, the words are so harsh that they will not pull down you but your entire family. It is like ‘OMG what is wrong with you?’ why so much hate, why so much negativity?“
