EXCLUSIVE: Meezaan Jafri calls industry support ‘agenda-driven’: “I can’t be fake”

Meezaan Jafri made his Bollywood debut with the 2019 film Malaal and went on to appear in movies like Yugantar and Hungama 2. While the films didn’t earn great numbers, Meezaan was appreciated for his performances. He is now gearing up for Yaariyan 2 alongside Pearl V Puri and Divya Khosla Kumar. The actor is often spotted attending parties and screening and lending his support to other actors. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, Meezaan shared how important it is that industry people support each other. He further stated that the support only comes put if there is an agenda.

Meezaan Jafri on industry being selectively supportive

We asked Meezaan his thoughts on actors in today’s time coming out to support each other and hype up a project. To which he said, “That also I feel comes with strings attached you. In today times they are supportive, but they’re only supportive of people who they are close to or if they have a hidden agenda in order to gain from that support. If I know I’m about to do a movie with this person or I’m about about to produce a movie with this person so now I’m going to back this person in order to get success for my future project with this person. So I think those kind of things still exist but I try to keep that out of the way and just be purely supportive. If I truly like you I’ll be supportive, if I don’t like you I’m not going to be that’s just how I am. I can’t be fake.”

Talking about why is it important that industry people support each other, Meezaan shared, “I think it’s everyone coming together to support one another is very important in today’s times. I try to do that whenever I can and you know going for movies premieres and people’s PR I think that’s very important you have to be supportive”.

For those unversed, Meezaan Jafri is son of popular actor Javed Jaffery. Even though he comes from a film background, he started as an Assistant Director and has worked in Padmaavat. Even after his debut, her assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Gangubai Kathiawadi.
