Radhikka Madan Calls Subedaar’s Attempted Ass*ult Scene Most Challenging
Speaking about the ass*ult sequence in the film that the audience found difficult to see. Radhikka Madan explained that fully immersing herself in the moment helped bring authenticity to the performance. She said the shoot itself proved emotionally and physically exhausting. “I think just living it is something that brings that authenticity to it. It was the most challenging two days. We shot it over the span of two days. It was the most challenging two days for me, mentally, physically, and emotionally.”
Weighing on the intensity of the scene, she said, “It had literally blood, sweat, and tears. And I did give my all to that sequence. And I’m so grateful that it’s getting so much of love after the release. It was handled very sensitively by our cinematographer Rayaan and our director Suresh. They just made me very safe and comfortable and made sure I’m okay all the time. And also allowing me to bring in that authenticity in the scene and making me live that in a protective environment.”
The actress further shared that stepping out of emotionally heavy scenes does not always come easily for her. Unlike some performers who can quickly detach from their roles. She admitted that the emotional weight of a character often stays with her. Saying, “I wish I was a switch on and switch off factor. I’m not. It does stay with me and I’m still learning to have boundaries with my characters and maybe with time I’m going to have that.”
Radhikka Madan Says Intense Characters Take A Toll On Her Life
Radhikka went on to reveal that such intense performances have taken a psychological toll on her. She said, “But yeah, it did take an emotional toll on me, and I did take a few days to get out of it. But I’m learning to set those boundaries up because it doesn’t do any service to my mental health, and I’ve experienced the same in the past. I’ve been performing really intense characters, and I have taken therapy after that because I didn’t know how to not take on the pain of my characters in my own life.”
The Angrezi Medium actress added that with time, she has started developing healthier ways to detach from emotionally draining characters. Saying, “So now I’m learning how to set boundaries with my characters, and now the timeline has reduced. Earlier, say, if it was like a month, now it’s like a day or two, and I’m sure I’m going to reach a point where I will be a switch-on and switch-off actor.”
Through her candid reflections, Radhikka Madan highlighted the emotional labour that often goes into portraying difficult narratives on screen. While the scene demanded intense vulnerability, the actor’s focus on building boundaries and prioritising mental health underscores the evolving conversation around the psychological impact of performance in cinema.
