siddhant chaturvedi as neelesh in dhadak 2

Siddhant Chaturvedi is an actor who primarily works in Bollywood. He gained fame from Ranveer Singh’s Gully Boy (2019), which was followed by Gehraiyaan (2022) and Kho Gaye Hum Kahan (2023). While promoting his upcoming film, Dhadak 2, the actor got candid about his role and how it’s shaping him. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Siddhant Chaturvedi recalled how portraying Neelesh in Dhadak 2 was emotionally tough for him.

Siddhant Chaturvedi Opens Up On Filming For Dhadak 2

When asked if it was uncomfortable, uneasy filming Dhadak 2 as it reflects on caste oppression for which he had to speak with family or friends, Siddhant Chaturvedi said, “Honestly, the thing is, my parents know what I do and how I do it. I always talk to them about it before I start prepping for a film. This is the film I’m doing, this is what it’s about. And when I get into the prep, especially since we were shooting in Bhopal for three months, I was away from my family. They get concerned, but I can’t just call them and say, ‘Oh, I’m having a hard day,’ because now it’s my turn to take care of them; they’re getting older. If I tell them I’m not okay or I’m struggling, they’ll drop everything and come back home.”

Continuing, he said, “So I have to reassure them, say it’s going great, absolutely amazing, which, to be fair, it was. The only thing I carried with me was the emotional weight of the character. Everything else was beautiful, Shazia, the way she handled everything with such sensitivity, the performances, the co-actors, Sourabh Sachdeva, everyone was so helpful and supportive. It really felt like a family. But the emotional burden of the character was a personal thing. I couldn’t place that weight on anyone else. You have to process it on your own, keep it inside, because if you start talking about it, you feel like you’re losing energy. And I chose this, right? So I have to keep that energy alive until the film ends. You’ll see it when you watch the film.”

Siddhant On Navigating Difficult Situations

Siddhant said, “It was tough. It’s not a life I would say I’ve completely lived, I’ve seen it, I come from a small town, I’ve witnessed these things, but I would never claim that I’ve lived this life. But that’s my job as an actor—to convince you, in those three hours, to believe what I’m emoting. That’s what I did in Gully Boy, or Kaamyaab, or Gehraiyaan. I’m none of those people, and I can never truly be them. All I can do is take the good things from each experience. What I learned from this character, Neelesh, is resilience—to stand up, to have a voice, and to fight for what he wants, to fight for love.”
