EXCLUSIVE: Was Sitaare Zameen Par The Only Title Chosen For Aamir Khan, Genelia Deshmukh’s Next? Actor Sets The Records Straight

Aamir Khan is an actor, filmmaker, and television personality who works in Hindi films. Referred to as “Mr. Perfectionist” in the media, he is known for his work in a variety of film genres. Khan has established himself as one of the most notable actors of Indian cinema. During a media interaction, Aamir Khan revealed that Sitaare Zameen Par was the only title chosen for his next.

Aamir Khan On Sitaare Zameen Par’s Title

When asked by the Bollywood Bubble correspondent why he chose the title as Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan answered, “Well, the script was something that was an extension of what we wanted to say in Taare. So Taare was about inclusion; it was about a child who has a learning disability. In this, the challenge is far greater; it is strong people with intellectual disabilities, who are atypical, someone with Down syndrome, autism, so the challenges are much greater for a person compared to dyslexia. Not just that, in Taare Zameen Par, it’s the teacher who helps the child.”

He added, “The neurotypical person helps the neurotypical person. In this (Sitaare Zameen Par), it’s the other way round, the neuro-atypical people, the 10 kids, help the coach. So, which is why I feel it goes 10 steps ahead in the same theme. So I found it’s like Taare Zameen Par, and we realised like it’s kind of a spiritual sequel to what Taare is saying. It’s taking the same way forward.”

On being asked if there ever was any other title attached to this film, Aamir clarified that Sitaare Zameen Par was the only title he had in mind.

Prasanna, the film will be released in theatres only on 20th June, 2025.

About Taare Zameen Par

Taare Zameen Par is a 2007 Indian Hindi-language drama film produced and directed by Aamir Khan. It stars Aamir Khan, with Darsheel Safary, Tanay Chheda, Vipin Sharma and Tisca Chopra. It explores the life and imagination of Ishaan (Safary), an artistically gifted 8-year-old boy whose poor academic performance leads his parents to send him to a boarding school, where a new art teacher, Nikumbh (Khan), suspects that he is dyslexic and helps him to overcome his reading disorder. The film focuses on raising awareness about autism and psychiatric disability in children.
