Sushmita Sen is all set to mark her comeback with her impactful role as transgender Shreegauri Sawant in Ravi Jadhav’s ‘Taali’. The film is all set to stream from 15 August on Jio Cinema. So far the teaser has been receiving overwhelming response, and now the makers have dropped the trailer of the film have have undoubtedly left us speechless.

The trailer starts with a voice-over introducing Shreegauri Sawant narrating her journey of becoming Gauri from Ganesh. We further get a sneak peek of her daring transformation, the journey towards motherhood, and the battle that led to the inclusion of the third gender in every document in India. Apart from Sushmita Sen’s commendable looks, hard-hitting visuals, it’s the impactful dialogues from the trailer that blew our minds.

Gauri aa gayi

Sounds casual right? But this dialogue appears at the time in the trailer when we see Gauri undergoing sexual transformation. In order to prove that she do belongs to the transgender community, she is told to undergo change to prove her support. And she does that without any fear.

Jiss desh main kutton ka bhi census hota hai par transgenders ka nahi, aise desh main aap jaise logo ke beech jeena, that is scary…

In one scene, where Gauri is speaking to a news channel as she fights for the rights of the third gender, she expresses how painful and tough it is when the transgender community was not given the required due. She is seen relentlessly fighting while facing the wrath of cruel society as she avers this line. Apart from the visuals, it’s her bang-on expressions, that perfectly showcases the helplessness of the lead protagonist.

Kya lagta hai yeh rule badalne ke liye

Courageous, warm-hearted and strong-willed Gauri is hell-bent on getting equal rights for the transgender community in India. While she is in a quest to do so, she wonders that if one does not belong to a category of either male or female, they do not have the right to live? And then unfolds her journey to change this rule.


Gali ke ladai aakhir Delhi tak pohoch hi gayi

Well, filing a petition, voicing out her opinion and the fight against this ruthless finally sees the light of the day. We could sense the triumph Gauri rejoices in as Gali ki ladai finally reached Delhi. Its Sushmita’s baritone that lends gravitas to the dialogue.

Maa hona koi gender nahi, feeling hai

We witness initially in the trailer that Ganesh is asked in school what he aspires to become. To which he answers ‘Maa’. But it’s his sexuality that is questioned and we further get a glimpse of him transforming to Gauri. But the battle does not end here. As per rules, the transgender community were deprived of adoption. But here comes Gauri to take up this challenge as well and explains the true meaning of motherhood.
