Anushka Sharma is one of the most successful celebrities today in the Bollywood industry, but did you know the Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi actress was initially rejected even before entering the showbiz world. Reportedly, she was criticized for her plain look. She told India Today: “I have faced rejection from the age of 15. I don’t talk about it because there’s no need to do that. But, I was constantly getting dropped from shows, picked for an ad and then would get replaced.”

Rajkummar Rao

Rajkummar Rao is one of the most talented actors in the Bollywood industry currently. The actor once revealed that he was rejected despite giving an impressive audition. In an old interview with DNA, the Badhaai Do actor said: “He [casting director] really liked my test but told me, ‘Acting is fine, but I can’t give you a lead part because leading heroes are supposed to be fair and muscular. But do you want to play a small character in my film?’ Currently, Rajkummar is the recipient of several accolades including a National Film Award, three Filmfare Awards and an Asia Pacific Screen Award.

Ranveer Singh

Ranveer made his debut with Band Baja Baaraat in 2010 with Anushka Sharma and there has been no stopping for him ever since. The actor has delivered some of his finest performances in recent years, however, did you know Aditya Chopra told him that he is not a ‘conventionally good-looking’ boy. “He said ‘my son you have to act really well if you want people to like you’, which is a polite way to say you are ugly.”

Taapsee Pannu

Taapsee has established herself as one of the most successful actresses in the Bollywood industry, but when she ventured into films, she faced rejection for several ‘stupid reasons’. Talking to Hindustan Times, she said: “I was told, ‘You are not beautiful and glamorous enough’, ‘Oh no, you’re too serious an actor… ‘You’re not good enough an actor’, ‘You are not so and so’s daughter’. I was even told, ‘You are not a big marketable name.”
