Mother’s Day Special: 7 types of moms who redefined motherhood on silver screen

The entire world is celebrating ‘Mothers Day’ today in their own special way. People all over the world are taking out time to acknowledge how important their mothers are to them and how they owe everything to them.

Earlier in Bollywood, we used to see mostly the ideal kinds of moms who would be the epitome of love but over the period of time, the filmmakers started portraying moms in more realistic ways. On the occasion of Mothers Day, we bring you seven types of moms from Bollywood who made their way into our hearts. Have a look

 

1. The perfect moms

The characters of a mother played by Nirupa Roy and Reema Lagoo was the epitome of how ideals mom in Indian cultures are. 

 

  2. The sensitive moms

The characters played by Alia Bhatt in ‘Raazi’, Gitanjali Rao in ‘October’ and Vidya Balan in ‘Paa’ showed us how sensitive mothers are. In ‘Raazi’, despite facing several dilemmas and tortures in her career as a Spy, Alia still chooses to enlist her son in Army. Gitanjali Rao’s character in ‘October’ help Varun to grow and select the right path in life while Vidya Balan’s character in ‘Paa’ is strong, independent and sensitive who treats her kid as an equal and doesn’t refrain from telling him the bitter truth. Such mothers are the perfect mothers in every sense. 

 

 3. The funny moms

Kirron Kher’s character in ‘Dostana’ and Kajol’s character in ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ introduced us to the ‘not-so-perfect’ goofy moms who are nevertheless adorable. 

 

4. The super cool moms

Zohra Sehgal in ‘Cheeni Kum’, Dolly Ahluwalia in ‘Vicky Donor’ and Farida Jalal in films like ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ and ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ are the kind of mothers anybody would love to have. These characters introduced us to super-cool moms who give priority to their children’s happiness and don’t give a damn about what the society will say. 

 

5. The super strict moms

Well everyone is aware of such kind of moms who are super strict and are sort of dictators when it comes to managing their children’s life. Dina Pathak in ‘Khoobsurat’ and Hema Malini in ‘Jamai Raja’ showed us that despite being strict when it comes to the happiness of their children such moms would go to any extent. 

 

6. The sacrificing moms

Mothers like Meher Vij in ‘Secret Superstar’ and Sridevi in ‘English Vinglish’ showed us how some mom sacrifice everything for the sake of their family and the happiness of their children. These moms also showed us that once they take up a task they never back away from it no matter what.  

 

7. The jugaadu moms

 Jugaad is a very handy trick if you wish to live happily. Vidya Balan in ‘Tumhari Sulu’ and Saba Qamar in ‘Hindi Medium’ are the perfect example of jugaadu moms who will go to any extent for their children’s happiness or future.
