Once again COVID-19 becomes a spoilsport as it becomes the reason for postponing the highly anticipated films of 2022. In the wake of omicron cases in the city, the makers have once again decided to postpone the release date of the films so that people can enjoy the film in a safe environment. Bollywood films like Prithviraj, RRR, Jersey, Radhe Shyaam and more have been postponed due to the rise in the cases in the city. It looks like we have to wait a little longer to enjoy these films on the big screens.

Here are the Bollywood films that have been postponed:

1. Prithviraj: Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar starrer was supposed to hit the theatres on January 21; however, considering the current situation, it is reported that the makers have indeed pushed forwards the dates. “Prithviraj will massively aid in bringing people back to the theatres and it can’t be released at a time when it won’t fulfil this purpose. Business-wise too it doesn’t make sense to compromise a film that will rake in the moolah at the box office. YRF was waiting till the last minute to see if the situation in India and overseas improves but the pace with which coronavirus cases are accelerating, forced their hand to hold on to the biggest title,” a source had told PTI.

2. RRR: One of the biggest films starring Alia Bhatt, Ram Charan, Jr NTR and Ajay Devgn has also been forced to shift its release date. The film which was scheduled to release on January 7 has been postponed indefinitely. “In spite of our relentless efforts, some situations are beyond our control. As many Indian states are closing theatres, we are left with no choice but to ask you to hold on to your excitement. We promised to bring back The Glory of Indian Cinema, and at the right time, WE WILL,” the team shared in an official statement.

3. Jersey: Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur starrer is also postponed, given the current scenario. He tweeted the official statement which read, “In view of the current circumstances and new Covid guidelines, we as a team, feel it is prudent to postpone the release of Jersey. We will see you as soon as we can with our film in 2022. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year.

4. Radhe Shyam: Announcing the postponement of Prabhas and Pooja Hedge starrer, an official statement read, “We have been trying our best for the past few days but considering the growing cases of Omicron variant it looks like we will have to wait for our labour of love to get to the big screens. Radhe Shyam is a story about love vs destiny and we are sure that your love will help us tide over these tough times together.

5. Attack: Though the makers of John Abraham starrer have made no official announcement on the same, a source said, as reported by WION, “While the official announcement is yet to be made the producers including John Abraham had an internal talk and have had decided that postponing the film is going to be the best decision in the current situation full stop there is no way that they can think ok of releasing the film on this scheduled date considering the current surge in covid-19 cases.
