Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s love story has passed the test of time. The couple has not only faced joys but also sorrows together and with each passing day, their bond has grown stronger. Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra is currently in the news due to his arrest and subsequent bail in an alleged pornography case.

On July 19, the businessman was arrested by the Mumbai Police since he has been named the ‘key conspirator’ in the case. Raj was sent to judicial custody till July 23 along with his partner Ryan Tharp. He finally received bail and was back home. The couple is at present keeping a low profile and spending most of their days with their children. Raj was spotted for the first time since his bail visiting a temple with Shilpa during their Himachal vacay.

Before getting stuck in the controversy, Raj and Shilpa doled out major couple goals. Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s love story is nothing less than a Bollywood blockbuster full of controversies to larger-than-life gestures. Despite everything, the couple is blissfully married and live a happy life with their two kids in their luxurious mansion.

How they met

Shilpa Shetty met Raj Kundra in London through a common friend to discuss a business deal. This was around the time when she had won at ‘Big Brother’ in 2007. Raj even offered Shilpa his bachelor pad to stay in as she was travelling to London frequently. She later got to know that he was going through a divorce. For the unversed, Raj Kundra was earlier married to Kavita and they have a daughter together named.

Love at first sight for both

Shilpa in an earlier interview said she was bowled over by his smile, charm, and persona. Raj had also said that it was love at first sight for him. From the moment he saw her, he knew he would love her to be his life partner.

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra began dating

 

In a 2007 interview with an international publication Daily Mail, Shilpa Shetty had admitted to dating someone. She, however, didn’t mention Raj’s name. The actress confirmed dating Kundra during the shoot of her film Life In A Metro (2007).

Raj Kundra proposed to Shilpa Shetty in Paris. The actress in a chat show revealed how his proposal took her by surprise. Raj booked the whole banqueting hall at the Grand and planned a fancy meal for Shilpa. He proposed with a five-carat diamond ring during the last course – dessert and she said YES.

The Big Fat Wedding

Shilpa and Raj sealed the deal on November 22, 2009. They hosted a grand wedding with the rituals and other ceremonies taking place at Shilpa’s close friend Kiran Bawa’s villa in Khandala in the presence of close friends and family. The duo was seen sporting heavily embroidered outfits for their wedding that happened as per the Mangalorean traditions. Later, the couple hosted a grand reception which was attended by the who’s who of Bollywood.

The couple has two children- Viaan and Samisha

The couple was blessed with their first child, Viaan Raj Kundra in May 2012. Later, they opted for surrogacy to welcome their second baby. They were blessed with a baby girl, Samisha in February 2020.

Though Shilpa Shetty has faced many ups and downs and controversies in their married life. They have withstood the storms by holding on to each other proving love conquers all.
