The day when Sridevi has been put to rest, is the same when she took ‘Judaai’ from cinema
The last journey
The last rites of legendary actress Sridevi was performed today in the afternoon. The legendary star has left us forever and it's a void that would be felt forever.
The diva is at peace
The actress, aged 54, was known for brilliant acting and exceptional dancing skills. It is such a cruel coincidence that the actress who passed away late on last Saturday night in Dubai had arrived delivering a memorable performance on this day, 21 years ago. We’ll let you know how.
The release of ‘Judaai’
Today, on February 28, 1997, Sridevi's film ‘Judaai’ had hit the screens. The film starred her alongside Anil Kapoor and Urmila Matondkar.
Last movie before going on a hiatus
Interestingly, this was the last film featuring the actress before she took a break from acting. She married producer Boney Kapoor in year 1996 and after ‘Judaai’ took a long hiatus for 15 long years before she returned to big screens with Gauri Shinde’s ‘English Vinglish’.
The last team up of an iconic pair
‘Judaai’ was even the last film which starred her opposite actor Anil Kapoor. The two had teamed up in many memorable films like ‘Mr. India’, ‘Lamhe’ and ‘Laadla’ before, and were loved by the audiences.
The movie which inspired her daughter's name
At the time of shooting the film, Sridevi was pregnant with her first child, Janhvi Kapoor. Reportedly, it was said that Sridevi was so impressed with the character played by her co-star Urmila in the film that she named her first child after her character Janhvi.
Same date, but another 'Judaai'
Today is the same date, 21 years hence, and it is a different kind of Judaai this time, as fans and stars bid adieu to Sridevi, the superstar. Her mortal remains have been put to rest, and it's a cruel irony that it's on the same date, as this movie. We will miss you, Sridevi, forever.
