Aishwarya once grabbed attention by sporting a purple lipstick at Cannes Film Festival 2016. The actress was trolled for it. Later, Aishwarya responded to her ‘purple lip’ criticism and told NDTV, “I enjoy the art and the creativity which goes with the fashion at Cannes and that’s why people see me do different things.”

On weight-gain:

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan welcomed daughter Aaradhya in 2011. Aishwarya was trolled for gaining weight after her pregnancy. The actress had shut down the trolls saying, “This is reality; this is who I am; I am a mother, and this can happen and it happened to me, and it’s fine. Also, I have never been the one who has endorsed size zero. You guys speculated I was pregnant way before I was many times, so this goes to show that I have lived for real life in public eye.”

In the past, Aishwarya had shared a picture of herself kissing daughter Aaradhya. Netizens slammed her for kissing daughter Aaradhya on lips. Reacting to the criticism, she had said, “People will have an opinion but that won’t change what I am doing, how I am taking care of my daughter in a public space. Luckily, I reach the story when it becomes a little old. But when I read it after a few days, everybody had moved on, so in a way I never let that define me. Judge it. She’s my daughter, I love her. I’ll be protective or I’ll be loving or I’ll embrace her. She’s my daughter and my life.”

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shares a close bond with her daughter Aaradhya. She is often spotted with Aaradhya in the city and also shares adorable photos with her on Instagram. Aishwarya is often trolled for being over-protective to her daughter. There are times fans troll her for holding Aaradhya’s hands. Back then, Aishwarya had reacted to the trolling.

Speaking with Hindustan Times, Aishwarya had said, “Aaradhya has seen it the limelight since birth and I would like to think she is used to it. At one point when we were walking, she was in a great mood, even as people clicked pictures. She was laughing and saying something funny. But when Aaradhya saw these people coming, she just wanted to stop in her tracks and squatted on the floor. I knew it was time for me to pick her up. I just wanted everyone to be safe, including my child. It is just a protective instinct, I keep her close.”
