alec baldwin sued fatal shoot

Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin has been sued over the fatal prop misfire. The incident took place on the sets of his upcoming release Rust. The shot left cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead and also injured director Joel Souza in the shoulder.  A crew member has now sued Alec Baldwin. He has also sued armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed in the fatal shooting.

Chief lighting technician Serge Svetnoy says that the accidental killing was caused by negligent acts and omissions of Baldwin and others.

The suit submitted in a Los Angeles court says that “Simply put, there was no reason for a live bullet to be placed in that .45 Colt revolver. Or it to be present anywhere on the Rust set. The presence of a live bullet in the revolver posed a lethal threat to all present.

Baldwin, and assistant director Dave Halls, Gutierrez-Reed did not follow film industry practice on the handling of weapons. They allowed a revolver loaded with live ammunition to be pointed at living persons.” the suit alleges.

Swetnoy alleged that he was close when Baldwin fired the gun and felt a whoosh as the bullet flew past him. He rushed to help his friend Hutchin and could feel the blood seeping from her back as she lost consciousness.

For the unversed, Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot and killed as Baldwin rehearsed a scene in which he fires a gun at the camera. The Emmy-winner was handed the firearm by Halls, who declared it cold slang for a safe weapon. The live bullet passed through Hutchins who passed away and hit director Joel Souza in the shoulder.
