Nora Fatehi Faces Rs 3 Cr Case After Calling Chartered Aircraft ‘Lego Airplane’

Nora Fatehi has found herself embroiled in a legal dispute with an aviation company over comments she allegedly made about a chartered aircraft. Dunes Aviation has filed a Rs 3 crore civil defamation suit against the Bollywood actor, accusing her of making “derogatory and reckless” remarks about one of its planes on social media. The matter is scheduled to come up before senior civil judge R Agarwal at a Gandhinagar court on September 25. Scroll down to read the full story.

Nora Fatehi Faces Rs 3 Cr Case After Calling Chartered Aircraft ‘Lego Airplane’

According to PTI, the dispute dates back to videos Nora allegedly recorded inside a Cessna Citation CJ2 while travelling from Mumbai to Jaipur in December last year. The actor later shared the videos on Instagram, where she reportedly referred to the aircraft as a “miniature”, a “toy” and a “Lego airplane”.

Dunes Aviation Alleged Losses After Nora’s Comments

Dunes Aviation has claimed that Nora’s remarks had consequences beyond social media, alleging that her substantial online following amplified the comments and resulted in booking cancellations. According to the company, the posts led to a 15-20 per cent decline in bookings and an increase in cancellations. Dunes Aviation has alleged that this resulted in financial losses as well as damage to its goodwill.

In its suit, filed in April, the aviation company described Nora’s comments as “reckless, irresponsible, and made without any technical knowledge, verification or factual basis”. It further alleged that the actor, who has more than 4.6 crore Instagram followers, caused “serious reputational damage, loss of goodwill and adverse commercial impact” through her social media posts.

Company Disputes Nora Fatehi’s Claims About Aircraft

Dunes Aviation has also sought to counter Nora’s alleged comments regarding the aircraft’s suitability and safety. The company maintained that the Cessna Citation CJ2 was appropriately sized for the journey and that the aircraft was fully DGCA-certified, airworthy and being operated legally under a valid NSOP.

Apart from seeking Rs 3 crore in damages, Dunes Aviation has asked the court to direct the immediate removal of social media posts and other content containing the disputed statements or references to the aircraft. The company has also sought a public clarification from Nora Fatehi.

Nora had reportedly referred to the aircraft as a “miniature”, a “toy” and a “Lego airplane” in the videos shared on Instagram. The legal proceedings will now determine the claims made by Dunes Aviation and the response to them.
