The biggest honour in the American Tv industry, the Emmy Awards returned with its 2022 edition this morning, and after being held in an intimate fashion last year owing to the pandemic, the event returned to its grand scale this year. Comedian Kenan Thompson hosted the ceremony and in his opening, he did a dancing number on the title tracks of some of the most iconic shows like Friends, The Brady Bunch, Stranger Things and Game Of Thrones.

The biggest nominees of the night were the drama Succession, the mini series The White Lotus and the comedy Ted Lasso. Korean show Squid Game also made it to the nominations list this year with 7 nods, and ended up winning 2 of them. Amongst the other big winners were The White Lotus and Ted Lasso which scored 5 and 4 wins respectively. Zendaya won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series the second time for her role in Euphoria, creating history by becoming the youngest two-time winner for acting in Emmys history, and the first Black woman to win the Emmy for lead actress in a drama series twice. The night was a star-studded affair that saw the best of American TV getting the laurels they deserve.
