Jab Harry Met Sejal

The first day business of Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma-starrer ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ is out, and for an SRK movie and the one which was hugely anticipated, the collection is fairly average. The movie grossed around Rs 15.50 crore nett approximately on the first day. The collection has been decent in metros and the collection outside the five metros has been poor. The major business has come from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, NCR and Pune while the rest of the regions have not contributed much. Even big multiplexes in Punjab have not collected much apart from Gurgaon. The box office performance is on the lines of Salman Khan’s ‘Tubelight’, in fact lower than that. We have to keep in mind the fact that ‘Tubelight’ fared miserably, let’s hope that does not happen here. If you talk about Shah Rukh Khan movies, then this movie has got the lowest opening in recent times. The box office fate of Salman Khan’s ‘Tubelight’ proves that these superstars shouldn’t do films which have a limited reach because when it comes to box office numbers, they are relying majorly on star power. It seems to be a similar thing for SRK and Anushka Sharma-starrer ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’. SRK’s last movie ‘Raees’ had crossed the Rs 20 crore mark in spite of a clash with Hrithik Roshan-starrer ‘Kaabil’ because it had a massy reach. ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ lacked the amount of reach and that could possibly be one of the reasons for less numbers. Now, it depends on how the movie fares on Saturday as it is majorly collecting in metros and the metros form a major chunk of the Saturday audience.

‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ is directed by Imtiaz Ali and stars Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma in lead roles.
