Anushka Sharma

The ‘Sultan’ lady Anushka Sharma is in the best phase of her career currently. Her latest films like ‘Sultan’ and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ have been a hit at the box office and she has received praises from all corners for her performance. But in initial days, Anushka had to make a tough call when it came to choosing the films. In a recent interview, she has said that she had to be picky with the films in order to do good films and because of this reason she had to let go of many.

She was quoted saying, “Right from the beginning, I knew I wanted to be a good actor who keeps getting better. I was appreciated in ‘Rab Ne…’ but it didn’t make me a star overnight. ‘Band Baaja Baraat’ made me realise the importance of good content, and I decided that I would be very selective in my approach thereafter. And this meant that I had to let go of many films.”

But of course, rejecting a film can lead to upsetting a filmmaker. To this she said, “No, because I never lied to them that i don’t have dates etc. I am very clear why I am not doing a particular film. I don’t want to be a part of for just the heck of it. And I don’t want to be a part of it if my character does not add to the narrative. I did Sultan because I had a very defined and substantial part to play in it.”

Okay then!
