Padmavati sets on fire

Troubles just don’t seem to end for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmavati‘. Earlier, Bhansali was assaulted by protestors in Jaipur for distortion of historical facts and now a set erected in Kolhapur has been set on fire, Tuesday night. The shooting was going on since 10 days, but despite all the security arrangements being in place, the protesters threw petrol bombs on the sets. Reports also suggest that around 20 security guards were beaten up in this ruckus and stones were pelted on some cars. The cops arrived at the spot in the morning and have started with the investigation.

Earlier, the filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was assaulted by members of Rajput Karni Sena in Jaipur when the shooting was going on. The protesters vanadalised the set which was built at Jaigarh fort and also broke the equipment. It was only later when the cops intervened, that the protesters were stopped.

It’s indeed saddening for the team of ‘Padmavati’ who has invested crores of rupees and also for the actors who are putting their best foot forward to make their characters look and feel authentic. The movie stars Deepika Padukone in the role of Rani Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as Raja Rawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Allaudin Khilji. The movie is slated to release on November 17 this year, but with so many disruptions in shoots, we just hope that the makers are able to release the movie on schedule.
