Lipstick Under My Burkha new poster

“The story is lady oriented, their fantasy about life. There are contanious sexual scenes, Abusive words, audio pornography and a bit sensitive touch about one particular section of society. Hence film refused under guidelines,” is what a CBFC report read, as they refused to certify Alankrita Shrivastava’s ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’.

In 2017, making a film on women and their fantasy about life is still not justified, is it? As Ekta Kapoor puts it, it takes balls to be a woman! The newly released poster of the film is a true testimony to the unheard screams we often suppress inside. “It takes ‘balls’ to b a woman! ….aaaah NOT????! The way to combat good old patriarchy …. is to question it in d face !!! ,” Ekta wrote. (Also Read: Prakash Jha and Priyanka Chopra to collaborate soon?)

After CBFC refused to certify it, the film was cleared by Film Certification Appellate Tribunal with an ‘A’ certificate. Featuring Konkona Sensharma, Ratna Pathak Shah, Aahana Kumra in pivotal roles, it is now set to hit the theatres on coming 21st July.

P.S. The position of the lipstick! Mind is blown!
