Did you know? Little Abhishek Bachchan found his mother’s films very depressing

Abhishek Bachchan’s interview on mother Jaya Bachchan

Who wouldn’t be a fan of Amitabh Bachchan? Among his countless admirers around the world, there’s one personality who claims to be the megastar’s biggest fan. No points for guessing, it’s his son and actor Abhishek Bachchan.

In an interview with IANS, he had said that, “Besides being his son, I’m his biggest fan. I refuse to believe anyone can be better than him. Here’s Mr Amitabh Bachchan who, in my eyes, is the greatest human being on earth, not to mention the biggest star and actor on the planet and one of our living icons.”

As a performer, Abhishek Bachchan had the opportunity to share screen space not only with his father but also his mother and veteran actress Jaya Bachchan. But, recently we stumbled upon an old interview that got us shocked with a revelation done by Abhishek. The actor confessed that as a kid he never watched his mother’s films. And the reason behind it was that he found them very depressing!

It was in the year 2003 when he appeared as the celebrity guest on host Simi Garewal’s talk show ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal’. During his conversation, when he was asked if he was a film junkie like other star kids and whether he watched lots of films, he said, “I only watched my father’s films.” [sic] This was followed by another question from Simi Garewal about watching his mother’s films. It was then that Abhishek paused for a few seconds and replied, “No! I used to go completely ballistic after seeing my father’s films, the total opposite happened with my mother’s films because see when you’re a young boy your father is your hero already… and to see your father beat up 50 people and jump off buildings, Superman is a wimp compared to him. So, my mother’s cinema was a total different world from what my father did.” (Also Read: We kid you not! Amitabh Bachchan almost named Abhishek Bachchan ‘Tiger’)

Further, Simi asked him if he found Jaya’s films depressing? Abhishek replied immediately saying, “Very! When you’re a kid you would. See at that point of time, I mean you have ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Shor’. My mother is just gonna shoot me after this interview.” [sic]

Well, it’s really surprising to know this revelation from Abhishek’s childhood. Now, we are wondering what would have been the first reaction of his mother Jaya Bachchan after she watched this interview then.
