Hrithik Roshan’s old interview on 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai'

‘Promising talent’, these are the first words every debutant in Bollywood wishes to hear after doing his or her first film. Every year there are many actors, filmmakers, technicians, and more, who start with their journey in this exciting world. There’s no doubt that for every newcomer his first film is nothing short of a challenge to showcase and in a way prove his or her caliber as a performer. Perhaps, that’s the motivation that induces them to go to any extent, to give their best shot. Recently, our eyes caught upon an old interview of a superstar who revealed how he almost drowned while shooting for a scene in his debut film itself. And it was none other than actor Hrithik Roshan, who luckily escaped this incident while shooting for his first film as a leading actor, ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’.

Many would remember that ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’ featured Hrithik in a double role; Rohit Mehra in the first half and Raj Chopra in the second. Talking about the character of Rohit, according to the film’s plot he dies in the first half and it is after his bike is knocked off from the bridge causing him to fall into the river below. As Rohit, doesn’t know how to swim, he drowns, resulting in the death of his character.

On Karan Thapar’s show ‘Face to Face’, it was while having a conversation about the film when the host (Karan) asked Hrithik about that scene of Rohit’s death, that happens underwater. Karan enquired if the shot was indeed taken around 40 feet underwater, and whether Hrithik himself did it or did he use a stuntman for the same. Hrithik replied immediately, saying, “That was me, it was me yeah, 45 feet (underwater) I think, if I can get, yeah 45 feet underwater and sitting for three hours, dangerous I… yeah I almost drowned, I almost drowned. It was good, but it was fun because it looked great. So, everything that you know works out for film is worth it.”

Well, we really admire Hrithik’s dedication and thank God that he was safe and did not meet any accident. The actor is really a professional and that remains true for him, even today.
