Chiranjeevi gets emotional as he reveals Salman Khan turned down a big paycheque offered to him for GodFather

Salman Khan and Chiranjeevi recently attended the Hindi trailer launch of GodFather. Salman Khan has an extended cameo in the film. At the event, Chiranjeevi got emotional as he revealed that Salman Khan did not charge a single penny for his cameo in GodFather. The actor turned down a big paycheque that was offered to him.

Chiranjeevi said, “When my producers went to handover one cheque, a big cheque to him, and indirectly through their managers they said ‘Sallu bhai ko boliye aisa dena hai’. The manager went inside and with the same speed he came out and said ‘Sir, please I don’t take this risk sir’. He (Salman) said one word ‘They want to buy my love and affection towards Chiranjeevi and Ram (Charan) with this price? No. However they give I don’t care. I’m doing it with love and affection. We are really overwhelmed and who has that much of big heart other than Salman Khan. So, thank you so much.”

Earlier, Chiranjeevi had shared how Salman came onboard for GodFather. In an interview with Film Companion, Chiranjeevi recalled that he had sent a message to Salman and he had replied saying, “Yeah, yeah Chiru garu, what do you want?” The actor went on to reveal, “I told him it’s a small character but very respectable, and you can watch Lucifer in case you want. Bhaijaan said, ‘No, no Chiru garu, I am doing it. Just send your person, we will discuss dates and everything.’ Withing 2-3 minutes he agreed.” Chiranjeevi added that Ram Charan met Salman to discuss the film and to him, he said, “Charan, you are my brother. Definitely, I want to do it. I need not see Lucifer. Just send a person to narrate my character.” GodFather is a remake of the Malayalam film Lucifer starring Mohanlal.

GodFather also stars Nayanthara, and is slated to release on 5th October.
