“Dhurandhar Not Being Dubbed In Telugu Was A Huge Opportunity Missed” States Allu Sirish As He Highlights How Much More Business The Film Could Have Done

The Telugu actor said that not dubbing the movie in Telugu was a ‘huge missed opportunity. He also compared it with films like Animal and Chhaava, which were released in Telugu as well. Allu Sirish Points Out Dhurandhar 2’s Missed Chance With Telugu Version

Allu Sirish, the brother of Telugu star Allu Arjun, recently shared his views on pan-India releases. He said that the absence of a Telugu-dubbed version of Dhurandhar was a “huge missed opportunity.” He also added that Hindi studios should take inspiration from films like Animal, which widened their reach by releasing in multiple languages.

Speaking with Variety India, Allu Sirish noted that audiences in South India are increasingly open to Hindi films. However, he believes many Bollywood producers fail to tap into this market. Reason being they do not prioritize dubbing their films into regional languages.

Referring specifically to Dhurandhar, Allu Sirish stated that skipping a Telugu-dubbed version restricted the film’s reach. He added that it may have impacted its potential box-office earnings. Talking about the films’ missed opportunity, Allu Sirish said, “I think Hindi filmmakers should put more focus on releasing their content here. Dhurandhar not being dubbed into Telugu was a huge opportunity missed. Imagine how much more business it could have done and how many more eyeballs it could have reached if it had released in Telugu as well.”

Allu Sirish References Animal’s Success In Regional Markets

According to the actor, the rising success of Telugu films in North India shows that language barriers are no longer a significant hurdle for audiences. He said, “Like how the Hindi audience has endorsed Telugu films without any bias, Telugu audiences – and even audiences in Malayalam, Kannada and to some extent, Tamil – are open to Hindi films now.” Sirish continued, “There is no bias. Most of the negativity you see online is just internet noise. The audience doesn’t care.”

He cited examples of films like Animal and Chhaava. Sirish urged Hindi studios to adopt a more consistent strategy for regional releases instead of treating them as occasional experiments. He said, “I feel Hindi studios should be more proactive in releasing their content here. They should not treat it as a one-off activity. They should learn a little from Animal’s playbook, because the Telugu version here also collected a sizeable amount.”

Released in 2023, Animal was dubbed into Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, allowing it to reach audiences across India and boost its overall box-office collections. Meanwhile, Chhaava was later dubbed in Telugu and released in theatres on March 7, 2025, following strong audience demand.

Speaking of Dhurandhar 2, the film is scheduled to release on 19th March, generating immense anticipation amongst the audience.
