SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus has left the western world much impressed. The Ram Charan and JR NTR starrer has been sweeping some prestigious awards overseas. The Naatu Naatu song has been nominated for the Oscar Awards 2023 in the Best Original song category.

Naatu Naatu live performance

As per the latest update, the popular song from RRR will be performed live at the 95th Academy Awards ceremony. The viral song will be performed by singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava. The news was confirmed by the Academy Awards’ official social media handle.

But there is no confirmation as yet if Ram Charan and Jr NTR will join them on the stage.

The peppy dance number was performed by Ram Charan and Jr NTR in RRR. It was shot at the Mariinskyi Palace (Ukraine Presidential Palace) in Kyiv, much before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The song was also released in Hindi as Naacho Naacho, in Tamil as Naattu Koothu, in Kannada as Halli Naatu and in Malayalam as Karinthol. It went on to be rage and garnered more than 122 million views on YouTube.

The song has already won the Golden Globes in the Best Original Song category. It also bagged the Best Song at the 28th edition of the Critics Choice Awards, along with Best Foreign Language Film.

Naatu Naatu competes against

At the Oscar Award ceremony the RRR song is competing for the best original song category with This Is A Life from Everything Everywhere All at Once, Also Applause from Tell It Like a Woman, Lift Me Up from Black Panther and others. Rihanna will be performing Lift Me Up and David Byrne, Stephanie Hsu and Son Lux will take the stage to perform This Is a Life on the Oscar night.

The 95th Academy Awards will be held on March 12 (March 13 in India) at Los Angeles’ Dolly Theatre. The award ceremony will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel this year.

RRR is a period drama set in the 1920s. The fictitious story is based on two legendary freedom fighters – Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem. The SS Rajamouli directorial also features Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, Alison Doody, Ray Stevenson and more. The movie went on to break many records at the box office not only in India but overseas too.
