Rajinikanth, Mohanlal To Begin Jailer 2 Shoot In Early December – Report

Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Jailer 2 is already creating huge excitement among fans, and the latest buzz suggests that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal may soon join the shoot. Though the team has not officially confirmed anything yet, industry reports claim that Mohanlal is preparing for a short filming schedule in early December, according to IANS updates.

Sources close to the production say that Mohanlal is expected to shoot his first set of scenes around December 2, after which he will return to his Malayalam film commitments. He is then likely to come back for another schedule between December 21 and December 24. However, all these dates are based on industry chatter, as the makers have not made any formal announcements.

There are also rumours that actor Vijay Sethupathi has filmed portions for Jailer 2 in Goa. But just like Mohanlal’s involvement, this too remains unconfirmed by the production team.

Earlier this year, Rajinikanth briefly spoke about the film’s progress when he interacted with the media at the Chennai airport. He said, “Shooting of Jailer 2 is progressing well. It will be December by the time the film ends.” The excitement around the sequel is natural, given that Jailer became a massive blockbuster and reportedly earned around Rs 650 crore worldwide. The second instalment officially went on floors in Chennai, with Sun Pictures announcing the start of shooting on March 10.

A teaser released by the makers has already raised expectations thanks to its mix of humour and high-energy action. Actress Ramya Krishnan also confirmed her return to the franchise, revealing she has begun shooting in Attapaadi, Kerala. She reprises her role as Viji, the wife of Rajinikanth’s character Muthuvel Pandian.

Mirnaa will also return as Swetha Pandian, and her character is expected to have more importance in the sequel. Music composer Anirudh, who played a major role in the first film’s success, is back to score the soundtrack for Jailer 2.
