The Telugu remake of Malayalam hit Drishyam 2 went on the floors recently in Hyderabad. The Telugu remake will be directed by Jeethu Joseph. It is titled Drushyam 2. It was launched with a customary puja. Venkatesh Daggubati, Jeethu, producer Suresh Babu and Rana Daggubati were present at the event.

Venkatesh and Meena are playing the lead roles in the Telugu remake while reports claim that Rana Daggubati may play a crucial role in the film. Rana Daggubati has been approached to reprise the role of Murali Gopi as reported by tamil.samayam.com.

The first instalment of Malayalam Drishyam starring Mohanlal, Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sarath, Siddique and Kalabhavan Shajon released in 2013. The film was directed by Jeethu Joseph. The thriller was well received by the critics and audiences alike and was a box-office hit. The film was later remade in Telugu that was released in 2014, then in Tamil, titled Papanasam, starring Kamal Haasan, Gautami Tadimala and Nivetha Thomas. It was also remade in Hindi in 2015. It starred actors like Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor and Ishita Dutta in pivotal roles. It was directed by Nishikant Kamat. All the remade versions were successful at the box-office.

The Telugu remake of Drishyam was directed by Sripriya, while the second instalment will be directed by Jeethu Joseph. Drishyam 2 released on Amazon Prime Video on February 19 and it received an overwhelming response.

On the work front, Rana Dagubatti will be seen in the pan-India multi-lingual film Kaadan/Aranya /Haathi Mere Saathi that will premiere in three languages on March 26, 2021.
