Varanasi: Producer Reveals All They've Done To 'Ensure SS Rajamouli's Vision Comes True'

At the Comic Con Experience Mexico 2026, producer S. S. Karthikeya offered a detailed glimpse into the making of Varanasi, the much-anticipated film directed by S. S. Rajamouli. SS Karthikeya Opens Up On Recreating Ghats With Intricate Details

S. S. Rajamouli’s upcoming Varanasi stands among the most anticipated Indian films in recent times. Starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film has generated immense buzz, especially after its first glimpse was unveiled at the Trailer Festival held at Le Grand Rex, Europe’s largest iconic screen. Furthermore, the preview received an electrifying response, with audiences breaking into applause, cheers, and whistles from the very first frame.

Amid this, the film also made an international appearance at Comic Con Experience Mexico 2026, where producer S. S. Karthikeya spoke about creating the world of real Varanasi.

Producer S. S. Karthikeya presented Varanasi at Comic Con Experience Mexico 2026 and said, “The story begins, and revolves, and ends in Varanasi. It’s also called the spiritual capital of India, and it’s one of the oldest cities that was built and is still inhabited. And obviously, our director, SS Rajamouli, had a vision of some breathtaking sequences in the Ghats of Varanasi, which obviously, we couldn’t have possibly executed there, as the producer, our responsibility is to make that happen.”

He continued,” We sent out our production design team to Varanasi to get all the possible dyes, measurements, picture references, and all of that. And to get his vision come true, we built the Varanasi Ghats brick by brick.”

Varanasi Builds Anticipation Amongst Fans

Mahesh Babu’s powerful look as Rudhra, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s intense first look as Kumbha, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s commanding avatar as Mandakini from Varanasi have already been revealed. Moreover, these glimpses are already sending social media into a frenzy and fueling nationwide excitement. With these striking glimpses raising expectations, anticipation has now reached fever pitch. Henceforth, audiences are eagerly awaiting this grand cinematic spectacle.
