Vijay Thalapathy Makes Public Appearance With Trisha Krishnan In Chennai Wedding

Tamil actor-politician Vijay Thalapathy and actress Trisha Krishnan attended the wedding reception of entrepreneur and film producer Kalpathi S Suresh’s son in Chennai on Thursday. Their public appearance together comes just days after Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha Sornaligam, filed for divorce.

The duo was seen arriving at the venue together and later posed with the newlyweds. They were also spotted leaving the reception side by side. Vijay was dressed in a gold-colored silk shirt paired with a traditional veshti, while Trisha wore a white and gold pure silk saree with red accents along the border. She styled the saree with a sleeveless red blouse and accessorised with a striking green emerald necklace.

This marks Vijay and Trisha’s first public appearance together following reports of Vijay’s wife’s divorce petition. It accused the actor of having an extramarital affair with another actress.

What Does The Divorce Petition State?

In her petition, Sangeetha Sornaligam stated that the alleged relationship caused her “deep emotional pain and mental suffering,” describing it as a breach of marital trust. The petition claimed that Vijay initially assured her the affair would end. However, the relationship persisted, leading to “mental cruelty,” social media embarrassment, emotional neglect, and what she termed constructive desertion.

Despite attempts to resolve the matter through legal counsel and personal discussions between September 2021 and February 2022, and again between August 2024 and February 2025, an amicable settlement was not reached.

Sangeetha Sornaligam’s Statement

Sangeetha Sornaligam stated that their marriage has “irretrievably broken down” and is only maintained on paper. She has requested a divorce decree, permanent alimony based on Vijay’s income and status. Sangeetha has sought the custody of the matrimonial home in Neelankarai until the case is resolved, or similar accommodation. She also asked for the proceedings to be held in camera to protect the privacy and dignity of those involved.

Vijay-Trisha’s Projects

Vijay and Trisha have previously shared screen space in films. Their projects were Ghilli (2004), Thirupaachi (2005), Aathi (2006), Kuruvi (2008), and Leo (2023).
