Jaya Bachchan has frequently voiced her discomfort with paparazzi culture, and her recent remarks about photographers once again triggered a wider debate about celebrity privacy versus media visibility. While some supported her stance, others argued that paparazzi remain an essential part of the entertainment ecosystem.
In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Rajiv Adatia spoke about how every celebrity views paparazzi differently and why he feels the relationship between stars and the media should remain respectful. Read on to know what he shared.
Rajiv Adatia SLAMS Jaya Bachchan’s ‘Gande Pants’ Remarks On Paps
When asked about his views on Jaya Bachchan’s statement on pap culture in India, Rajiv Adatia said, “Dekho, Jaya Bachchan ji ne mujhe bola hai ki sabke apne-apne views hote hain, theek hai? Ab kya hota hai na, sabki apni space hoti hai. Some people like the paps, some people don’t like the paps. Theek hai, maybe Jaya Bachchan ko pasand nahi hai ki unki photo kheenchi jaaye. Par mera maanna yeh hai ki aap logon ne hi humko banaya hai.”
He further added, “See, hum log TV par kaam karte hain, shows mein aate hain. Par agar aap log humko promote nahi karte, humare interviews nahi lete, humare baare mein kuch chhapte nahi — toh kal ko log humein dekhenge bhi nahi, right? So I feel that we should respect what perhaps they are doing. But yaar, main tum logon ko daantunga bhi.”
What Did Jaya Bachchan Say?
At the ‘We The Women’ event in Mumbai earlier this week, Jaya Bachchan expressed her frustration with paparazzi, saying, “Yeh gande gande pant pehen ke, mobile leke [aa jaate hai]… They think that because they have a mobile, they can take your picture, say what they want. The kind of comments they pass!” Her pointed remarks, which many industry voices labelled as “elitist,” have now escalated the situation.
Through his words, Rajiv underlined that while personal boundaries must be respected, celebrities also benefit from media coverage, making mutual understanding key to maintaining balance.
