According to PTI, the incident took place on March 1 near Road No. 2 within the jurisdiction of the Banjara Hills police station. The police explained that the 40-year-old Prem Shankar was driving an electric vehicle. It came to a stop on the main road after its battery drained, resulting in a traffic jam at a busy junction. A woman constable and a home guard arrived at the scene and asked Prem Shankar to step out of the car so the vehicle could be moved aside.
However, he allegedly refused to cooperate and pushed the home guard when officers tried to clear the traffic. “The constable and the home guard requested Shankar to come out of the car to enable them to shift the car, but he refused to exit and pushed the home guard,” a police official was quoted as saying.
Authorities later managed to remove him from the vehicle and move the car to alleviate the congestion. Prem Shankar reportedly left the scene but was later booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police confirmed his arrest on Wednesday in connection with the case.
