Anubha Arora: Casting Directors Ask For Your Social Media
Talking about navigating life in fast-paced metropolitan cities, Anubha Arora said, “We were never designed to rush without a purpose. Nowadays, we find our own versions of purpose in everything that we do, which often leads to our fast pace and work-life imbalance.”
When asked about the biggest negatives of social media, Anubha adds, “The positives are, of course, that we feel more connected to our friends, families, and acquaintances. We find a medium of self-expression that is easily accessible. But the biggest negative, I feel, is the social comparison that comes with it. That really disturbs our mental peace.”
Anubha: Social Media Is A Necessity
Talking about the role of social media in her life and career, Anubha says, “Social media, for me as an actor, is a necessity. It helps me stay relevant, be aware of what’s happening in the industry, and learn about new filmmakers as well. It also helps in reaching out to a wider audience with your talent. In fact, casting directors often ask for your social media before casting. So, a social media footprint as an actor is now a huge necessity.”
However, one needs to be careful, she says, adding, “Whenever I am on social media beyond a point, I get utterly distracted. My mind gets fogged, and I forget what I actually had to do. The minute I stop the mindless scroll, I’m more focused. I get more time to hone my creative abilities, read, write, or practice my craft — and most importantly, to be more aware of my thoughts and my purpose.”
Regarding the fake-versus-real dilemma in the digital age, Anubha says, “That’s a major problem. Now, I never share something right away. I do my due diligence to understand what’s real versus fake, weigh the pros and cons, and then form my own viewpoints. I think that’s very important for everyone now.”
