Eklavya Sood On The Bengal Files’ ‘Bone-Chilling’ Climax

When asked what went through his mind when he first read the scene that takes place on the eve of August 15, 1947 in TBF, Eklavya Sood said, “That’s the climax of the film, and honestly, it gave me goosebumps. It’s bone-chilling. I can’t reveal much, but I’ll just say this—when you watch that scene, drop all preconceived notions. Let yourself be transported back to the night of August 15, 1947, and you’ll feel the weight of history in your chest.”

Eklavya: I Went To A Gurudwara To Seek Blessings

During the same chat, we also asked the actor whether it was difficult for him to play a Punjabi character in The Bengal Files. Answering us, Eklavya said, “I was terrified in the beginning. I had never spoken Punjabi before, so that was a challenge in itself. But more than the language, it was the responsibility. My character is a devout follower of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and playing a Sikh warrior isn’t something you can do superficially. You have to carry that pride, that dignity, and that faith with authenticity.”

Recalling visiting a Gurudwara ahead of shooting the film, the actor shared, “The night before my first day of shoot, I was so nervous that I went to the Gurudwara in Versova to seek blessings. I wanted permission, in a way, to step into Amar’s shoes. That gave me the strength to play him with honesty.”
