This Diwali feels special because while safety protocols are essential, things are beginning to slowly open up in Maharashtra and there are positive signs of improvement compared to the situation last year, so yes this Diwali in spite of being a personal and small affair will be special. A change I wish for this Diwali is for more positivity and peace to be bestowed in all our lives. The last year has been upside down for all of us and I am really hoping this Diwali brings in all the love and light that we truly need. My friends and family have definitely been the light in my life and even more through these tough times. I am grateful for their presence in my life and there is nothing I would ever be able to achieve without their love and support.

Diwali is very special for me as I was born on Diwali morning which is why my house’s name is Deepa. Firstly, my family treats this day as my birthday and somehow I feel this festival is always bringing a turning point in my life. And I look forward to this part of my year. Birthday Month is anyways auspicious for all and for me, Diwali 2021 month is my birthday month. I am looking forward to it, I am afraid of crackers, decorations and the energy of the festival is what I like the most.

This Diwali is special because I think everyone is kind of in that space where you know we are slowly coming back to normal life again. There is a kind of revival in the air so, there is energy, excitement for the future and hopes are high. And that’s the difference I would say this Diwali. Also, the parties are much smaller and contained. People still trying to be safe in spite of wanting to celebrate it. Diwali is the time to go to my friends’ houses and eat yummy food and enjoy the company. When it is Christmas we are the ones hosting it and when it is Diwali it is our turn to visit everyone’s homes and we make most of it. And it is a time of love, laughter, and fun for me. And a change I would like this Diwali almost happens as some cities have banned crackers including green crackers. That would be the change I wish for Diwali. Bursting crackers in an unsafe and unregulated way should be completely removed from traditions and lighting diyas and yummy sweets and meeting friends is lovely so there is no space for crackers.

If we could drop the crackers from the celebrations then that would be the change that would make me happiest. And my source of brightness is my wonderfully handsome, loving, patient husband Keith, he is the source of brightness in my life. He wakes me up with lovely coffee and supports me in all my madness. He takes care of me and keeps me positive. So, he is the source of brightness in my life.
