The singing reality show, Indian Idol has faced a lot of flak recently. Even Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar, who was one of the guests on the show was disappointed for singing his father’s songs badly, The show has been slammed for the ‘melodrama’, ‘fake love angle’, ‘well-scripted drama’ and whatnot. Most of the time, it has also been compared to daily soaps.

Recently, Kumar Sanu also graced Indian Idol 12 as one of the guests along with Roopkumar Rathod and Anuradha Paudwal. In an interview, he told that such kind of reality shows only provide a platform and talent has to work hard after it to build a career. He also said that the more the gossip is, the more the TRPs and it’s not a big deal.

Sanu told Hindustan Times, “Jitna gossip hoga, utna TRP badhega, samjha karo. Badi baat nahi hai.” He added, “Talent finds a way and these shows bring the talent to the fore, but what next? Not just Indian Idol, every show brings such talent to public platform. Maybe they do not get a chance in the industry, they may get a chance to get some work and money.”

He also said that it is the responsibility of producers, music directors to offer work to them as there are many singers who are talented. “These shows work to bring the talent to the limelight, and industry people need to offer them work,” said the singer.
