Kushal Tandon grandfather Lalji Tandon passes away

Kushal Tandon’s grandfather and Madhya Pradesh’s Governor Lalji Tandon breathed his last today. He was 85. Reportedly he died due to age-related issues. His son Ashutosh Tandon announced his death. Veteran politician Lalji served as the 22nd Governor of Madhya Pradesh. He was a member of Bhartiya Janta Party and protege of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

According to a report in the Indian Express, Lalji was hospitalised in Lucknow in June. He was suffering from breathing problem, difficulty in urination and had a fever as well. On June 11, he was put on a ventilator.

Kushal’s uncle Ashutosh Tandon took to his Twitter handle and shared the news of his father’s death. “My father has passed away,” he wrote.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mourned Lalji’s death. Offering his condolences he took to Twitter and wrote, “Shri Lalji Tandon will be remembered for his untiring efforts to serve society. He played a key role in strengthening the BJP in Uttar Pradesh. He made a mark as an effective administrator, always giving importance of public welfare. Anguished by his passing away.”

He further added, “Shri Lalji Tandon was well-versed with constitutional matters. He enjoyed a long and close association with beloved Atal Ji. In this hour of grief, my condolences to the family and well-wishers of Shri Tandon. Om Shanti.”
