Rohit Chandel Arrested For Stalking And Harassing 16-Year-Old Girl

Television actor Rohit Chandel, popularly known for his role in Pandya Store, has been arrested by Mumbai Police for allegedly stalking, repeatedly calling, harassing, and assaulting a 16-year-old girl in an eastern suburb. Rohit Chandel, 29, is known for playing Baji Rao in Kashibai Bajirao Ballal and Dhawal Makwana in Pandya Store. He was currently seen on the TV show Sairaab. Along with the POCSO Act, the Pant Nagar Police have also invoked Sections 78 and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These are related to stalking and causing hurt.

According to a report by The Times of India, Chandel was arrested from his Dahisar residence on Friday. He was later produced before a special POCSO court, which remanded him to police custody. As per the complaint filed by a resident of an eastern suburb, the actor allegedly made repeated calls to the minor from his own number and several other phone numbers, causing her harassment. The complaint further stated that on July 5, Chandel allegedly confronted the girl near her residential building. He chased her, argued with her, abused her and assaulted her by hitting her with his hands.

Police said that the accused and the minor were known to each other. Speaking about the case, a police official said, “Following the complaint, a case was registered, and the accused has been placed under arrest. Further probe is underway in the case.” The investigation under Mumbai Police is currently ongoing.

Neither the actor nor his family or any close associate has reacted to it yet.
