Yuvika Chaudhary arrested for using casteist slur in her vlog; Gets interim bail

Yuvika Chaudhary, who was Bigg Boss 9 contestant, has been garnering headlines for the wrong reasons. The actress was arrested under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (SC/ST Act) as she allegedly made an offensive remark against Scheduled Castes on her YouTube vlog. Yuvika Chaudhary was arrested on Monday by Haryana Police, however, she received interim bail. The actress was clicked outside the police station and now, they are doing rounds on the internet. Her legal representative, Ashok Bishnoi, released a statement to news agency ANI.

According to ANI, Bishnoi said, “My client has joined the investigation as per the guidelines given by the High Court and she is on interim bail now (in a case of alleged offensive remarks against Scheduled Castes on a social media platform).”

As per reports, Yuvika was booked by Haryana Police in the month of May after Rajat Kalsan, a Dalit rights activist, filed a complaint in Hansi, Haryana against her and raised allegations of making some derogatory and objectionable remarks about the SC community in the video

In a YouTube Vlog, she apparently made an offensive remark towards the community, which she deleted after getting huge backlash. In the video, she was getting ready to go out with her husband and Bigg Boss fame Prince Narula, when she described her look as not up to the mark by using the slur. She later took to her Instagram to clarify that she was not knowing that the word she used was a casteist slur.

She wrote, “Hi guys I didn’t kw the meaning about that word wt I used in my last vlog I didn’t mean to hurt anyone and I can never do that to hurt someone I apologise to each n every one I hope you understand love you all (sic).”

Earlier, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah star Munmun Dutta was also bashed recently for using the same casteist slur in her video. She faced a lot of flak on social media.
