Abhinav Bindra biopic starring Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor and Anil Kapoor shelved?

Anil Kapoor’s son Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor made his silver screen debut with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s epic fantasy romance Mirzya. The film released in 2016. While the star kids’ debut film tanked without no trace, his second film Bhavesh Joshi Superhero received rave reviews from the critics.

Harsh’s next film, a biopic of Olympian sharp-shooter Abhinav Bindra, was supposed to go on the floors last year. But looks like the film is not going to see the light of the day anytime soon. Well, according to SpotboyE report, the project has been put on hold. Read on to know what’s next in store for Harsh.

In Abhinav Bindra biopic, while Harsh was roped in for the titular role, his father and veteran actor Anil Kapoor was brought on board to play Abhinav’s father. Now as per the SpotboyE report, the biopic has been put on hold at least for the time being. Now both Anil and Harsh have moved on to their next film. Yes, after AK vs AK, Harsh and Anil will be sharing the screen space again in Raj Singh Choudhary’s Thar. The Netflix film also stars Fatima Sana Sheikh. Raj even confirmed with the portal that he has started shooting for Thar with the father son duo.

In February last year, Harsh had revealed that he had agreed to do Abhinav Bindra biopic back in 2016. The Bhavesh Joshi actor had expressed his excitement for the biopic being his next film for the silver screen.

Sharing a picture with Abhinav, director Heeraz Marfatia, and his father, Harsh had posted, “The Abhinav Bindra Biopic which I agreed to do in October 2016 will start filming at the end of this year … very excited to have Heeraz Marfatia onboard to direct @saiwyn to write and @anilskapoor to co star in my dream project .. sometimes films take time especially if you want to make them a certain way, I have always been clear about the films I want to do and this is no different, With Mirzya we tried to do something new with the romantic musical with Bhavesh we broke new ground with the idea of what a superhero vigilante would be like in the real world and now this will be a biopic that’s different from the rest and that’s because @abhinav_bindra is a unique and exceptional man with an incredible story that almost no one knows and we will tell it without compromises the way it deserves to be told .. this will be my next film for the big screen #2021(sic).”

However, with no update about the biopic’s shoot looks like its indeed pushed back in the pipeline. We hope the makers of the Abhinav Bindra biopic share an update about the film’s status and thereby clarify whether it’s just put on hold or shelved completely.
