At the special screening of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Karan Johar spoke about signing Rani Mukerji as Tina Malhotra in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and Kajol starrer Kuch Kuch Hota Hai completes 25 years of its release today. On Sunday, SRK, Rani and Karan Johar came together to celebrate the film. The trio surprised fans at the special screening of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. KJo, who directed the masterpiece, thanked KKHH’s cast and crew members.

KJo talks about signing Rani Mukerji

Talking about Rani, KJo said, “I am grateful that Rani agreed to do the film. Prior to her, I got several reality checks before I went to Rani. Ironically it was her husband (Aditya Chopra) who recommended her to me back then and said that she’s going to be a movie star. You should see her and she had done a film.”

The filmmaker added, “It was at the first shot that she ever gave which is on the song Koi Mil Gaya and she’s the only one who got the step right. And I remember Farah Khan screaming from very far because everybody looked at her and said that ‘what are you doing?’. Farah said that she’s the only one doing it right. And I remember bhai (Shah Rukh Khan) going up to her and saying, ‘Tu kya kar rahi hai dikha (What are you doing, show)” To this, SRK responded saying, “Maine steps galat kiye hai? Ab bata rahe ho mujhe? (Did I do the steps wrong? Now you are telling me).”

Rani Mukerji played the role of Tina Malhotra in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. She is married to filmmaker Aditya Chopra. They welcomed their first child, daughter Adira in 2015.

On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan won hearts as Rahul Khanna whereas Kajol played the role of Anjali Sharma. Salman Khan, who was also a part of KKHH, played the role of Aman Mehra in the film.
