Not many actors have played the role of a Naval officer on the big screen. But, Akshay Kumar has got an opportunity to play a same in his upcoming flick ‘Rustom’, and the actor feels lucky to play the character.

The movie is said to be based on Nanavati murder case of 1959. However, Akki has stated that the film is based on many true stories and incidents that have taken place in past.

When the actor was asked if the story of the film is inspired by the movie ‘Achanak’, he said that the only similarity between both the films is the killing-for-love part.

Talking about his reaction when he was offered the film, the actor said, “I couldn’t say no to the role. I don’t remember anybody in Bollywood playing a naval officer.”

The 48-year-old actor believes in giving his hundred percent to any character he portrays on the silver screen and ‘Rustom’ is no different. “I call myself lucky to play the role of a naval officer. Dabbling in different genres has now become my life’s all-abiding passion,” he said.

‘Rustom’ which also stars Ileana D’Cruz and Esha Gupta in pivotal roles, releases on August 12.
