Akshay Kumar dismissed a reporter’s ‘Kesar’ question at an Acer event, just days after Shah Rukh, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff received FDA notices. Akshay Kumar REACTS To Journalist’s Question About Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn’s Vimal AD Row

During the interaction, the reporter pointed out that while other actors were promoting ‘Kesar’, Akshay was endorsing Acer. The actor immediately laughed at the question but chose not to respond verbally. The question referenced Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff, who are currently featured in Vimal Elaichi advertisements. Interestingly, Akshay was also part of the Vimal campaign but stepped away after facing heavy criticism over his association with the brand. The query came days after Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff received show-cause notices from the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration over their appearance in a Vimal Elaichi advertisement.

What Happened To Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn’s Pan Masala Gutka AD?

The FDA issued the notices on August 11, seeking responses from the three actors within 15 days. The regulator claimed that the advertisement could amount to indirect or surrogate promotion of Vimal Pan Masala. The product has been prohibited in Maharashtra.

The notices were reportedly sent to Shah Rukh’s residence Mannat in Bandra, Ajay’s residence in Juhu, and Tiger Shroff Productions LLP. The FDA raised concerns over the use of the Vimal brand name, product references, and dialogue in the ad. They argued that the campaign could indirectly promote Vimal Pan Masala.

Akshay Kumar’s Vimal Controversy

Akshay Kumar had appeared alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn in a Vimal Elaichi ad in 2022. His involvement sparked significant backlash, prompting him to issue a public apology and step away from the brand. “I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reactions over the past few days have deeply affected me. While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings regarding my association with Vimal Elaichi. With all humility, I step back. I have decided to donate the entire endorsement fee to a worthy cause. The brand might continue airing the ads until the legal duration of the contract. But I promise to be more mindful in my future choices. In return, I shall forever seek your love and wishes,” Akshay had stated.

Tiger Shroff replaced Akshay in the campaign.
