Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif ‘s casting not the actual issue for Jee Le Zaraa delay? Here’s what we know

In 2021, Farhan Akhtar announced his return to direction after a long time by pulling a casting coup of sorts. He brought together Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Katrina Kaif for a road trip film Jee Le Zaraa. It has been one of the most awaited films since its announcement. But with all the delays, it has been embroiled in many reports of cast change, schedule change and even getting shelved.

Jee Le Zaraa latest update

As per the last update, it was being said that Priyanka has pulled out of the film. Anushka Sharma was touted to have been approached to replace her but even she had said no. There were some reports of even Katrina quitting the film, and eventually the film was being said to be shelved. Now, recently in an interview, writer-producer Zoya Akhtar had said that the film is indeed on and they are just waiting for the dates of the cast, without commenting on who’s in and who’s out.

Now, a latest report in Zoom states that Farhan is clear that he wants to make the film with his OG trio only. Also, the film is very much on track. The source informed, “Farhan saw no reason to deny all the fabricated stories. He is very much committed to the project and to making the film only with the handpicked cast of Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt. The cast remains. Their dates are being coordinated.”

Farhan is also reviving Don franchise with Ranveer Singh reportedly headlining the third part. It was being said that Farhan will make Don 3 before JLZ, but seems like it’s the opposite. The source said, “Farhan will make Jee Le Zaraa before he gets into Don 3.”

The reports suggested that the main female cast and their scheduling was being an issue. Katrina went on to get married after the film’s announcement, while Alia got married and had daughter Raha. Priyanka also had daughter Malti after the film’s announcement. However, seems like the real reason for delay is not the female but the male cast of the film.

The source shared, “The actual problem with Jee Le Zaraa is the male cast. Farhan wants three A-list leading men for the male parts, not the usual suspects who are brought on board routinely for films that have author-backed roles for the women.” Not many A-lister actors come on board films led by woman, thus Farhan is having to wait a bit more.

Meanwhile, Alia is enjoying the success of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. She has her Hollywood debut up next with Heart Of Stone. Katrina has Merry Christmas releasing later this year with Vijay Sethupathi. As for Priyanka, she has Heads Of State with Idris Elba and John Cena. But the film’s shoot has been put on hold because of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
