In pics: Amitabh Bachchan and family at Rajan Nanda’s prayer meet

Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan‘s daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda’s father-in-law Rajan Nanda left for the heavenly adobe on Sunday. The Chairman and Managing Director of Escorts Limited, since 1994, Rajan Nanda was brought brain dead in a hospital in Gurgaon. Almost the entire Bachchan clan arrived in New Delhi, to attend the funeral of the late industrialist.

Amitabh Bachchan who was shooting for his film ‘Brahmastra‘ in Bulgaria, flew off immediately to be by her daughter’s side. The veteran actor expressing his grief over Nanda’s death took to his blog and penned a heartwrenching note for the departed soul. The actor wrote, “The soul cannot be burnt by fire, nor drenched by water, Nor dried by the wind, nor pierced by an arrow… the thought, therefore, is that ‘atma’ is eternal .. the soul is eternal and therefore rests in peace.”

The 76-year-old businessman Rajan Nanda was the father of Nikhil Nanda, Shweta Bachchan’s husband. He was married to filmmaker Raj Kapoor’s eldest daughter, Ritu.
